Before you start OneLeg you need five things: a Private 7 licence that includes OneLeg, a fast price feed, a broker account that will trade, a Windows VPS close to that broker and a broker whose rules you have checked. Prepare them first, then go to the first setup.
OneLeg checklist: what to prepare
| What | Why OneLeg needs it | How to check or get it |
|---|---|---|
| Private 7 licence with OneLeg | OneLeg is one of the built-in algorithms of Westernpips Private 7. | Check which algorithms your plan includes on westernpips.com. Activate the licence: licence activation and login. |
| Fast price feed | The fast provider is the price reference. OneLeg trades only when the slow broker lags behind it. | Use a built-in Westernpips Fast Source or any provider from the list of available connectors. The fastest option is a direct FIX, API or ITCH connection. Read more: fast price feed. |
| Broker account (slow provider) | All OneLeg orders are opened on this one account. | Add it in Dashboard > Connections. For broker terminals use the EA connector. Note the symbol name, minimum lot and lot step. |
| VPS near the broker | Every millisecond between the signal and the fill turns into slippage. | Windows Server 2022 or later, 2–4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB disk, in the same data centre as the broker server (usually London LD4 or New York NY4). See system requirements and Forex VPS. |
| Broker rules checked | Some brokers restrict latency arbitrage or very short trades in their client agreement. | Read the client agreement and test the broker first: brokers that allow arbitrage. |
| Demo or minimum lot | Settings that work on one broker rarely work unchanged on another. | Plan to start on a demo account or with the minimum lot and review the first trades in the strategy log. |
Check that the feed is really faster than your broker
OneLeg makes sense only if the fast provider updates before the slow broker. Before any settings work, run the check described in how to check which quote feed is faster. In the OneLeg window you can also compare the Time and Δτ (TPS) fields of both providers: the fast provider should normally show more ticks per second, and the Price chart should show the slow quote following the fast one.
Optional but useful
- Recorded quotes: turn on Save during observation to record ticks of both providers. The file is a complete record of the session for your own analysis (see the .1leg format). OneLeg levels are chosen visually on the Gap chart: the BackTester covers only OneLegMulti, OneLegHidden and TwoLegStandard.
- Example preset: example preset files come with the software. Treat them as a starting point only: spread, commission and execution differ between brokers.
- Support contact: Westernpips support works 24/7 on Telegram @westernpips, WhatsApp +1 516 584 7654 and e-mail westernpips@gmail.com.
